A tsunami watch was issued for Hawaii on Tuesday after an 8.0 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Russia, according to officials.

An advisory was also issued for Alaska and Japan’s Pacific Coast regions of Hokkaido to Kyushu.

The earthquake occurred off the east coast of Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
